Always remember to turn off your PC
Turning off your PC before servicing any of its components should be your first step. Don't even open the system unless the power is turned off. Most PCs have numerous lights inside to serve definite functions so check to see that no lights are on. If any of these lights are still on, the power is not completely off. Also, it is always recommended to unplug the computer from power strip as another safety measure.
Don't Use Capacitors
Capacitors are small electronic devices used in many of the parts inside a computer. Capacitors have the capability to store electric charge for a short while after the power is turned off. Therefore, it is good to wait for a few minutes after pulling the plug before working on your computer.
Never Service the Non-Serviceable
When you see anything with a warning "No serviceable components inside", always take it as a serious suggestion. There are some components in computer that are not meant to be fixed, even if you have the expertise or the most qualified tech support technicians at your side. The warning can generally be seen over power supply units. Most times, it is meant for sensitive components such as monitors, hard drives, and optical drives.
Try to uninstall unused programs
Over time, a new program come along that looks fascinating to play with, but after a few weeks you stop using it. These programs get accumulated and create a mess on your hard drive and use valuable space. You might feel attracted to remove these programs from your drive, but doing so can create problems. To resolve such problems, you must use the uninstall function of Windows for the program to be removed safely.
Clean out temporary files
When your PC is not shut down properly, it tends to pass data stored in memory into fragmented files. While you're running programs, your PC will write information that it does not directly require into temporary files. Files that have been installed will also increase themselves into the temporary folder or clean-up themselves. Using the disk cleanup option in your computer Tools, you can delete these temporary files in a safe mode.
